Fixation of Undisplaced Fractures of the Neck of Femur with Multiple Cannulated Screws
نویسنده
چکیده
Results: Sixteen patients with impacted and undisplaced fracture of the neck of femur were treated with multiple cannulated screws. The mean follow up was 26 months; mean age was 38 years (range 14-58 years). Thirteen/16 patients (81.25%) were satisfied with the excellent results of the treatment. Two patients (12.5%) showed nonunion and valgus osteotomy, compression of the fracture and rigid internal fixation were used to promote union. One case developed avascular necrosis and treated by total hip Arthroplasty.

Letter to the Editor: Cannulated versus non-cannulated cancellous screw fixation for femoral neck fractures: a synthetic bone biomechanical study.
PURPOSE To compare the compressive strength of cannulated versus non-cannulated cancellous screws for undisplaced femoral neck fractures in synthetic bones. METHODS 18 synthetic proximal femurs simulating an AO B1 valgus impacted femoral neck fracture in osteoporotic bone were used. The fracture angles were between 55º and 63º (Pauwels grade 2). Fixation was made using 6.5-mm non-cannulated s...
متن کاملSubtrochanteric fracture: a rare but severe complication after screw fixation of femoral neck fractures in the elderly.
Cannulated screw fixation is a minimal invasive technique to treat undisplaced femoral neck fractures. It is the preferred method in elderly patients who often suffer co-morbidities. There is scarce literature on subtrochanteric femoral fracture as a complication of cannulated screw fixation of a femoral neck fracture. This complication occurred, without an adequate trauma, in two of 35 patient...

متن کاملBilateral Simultaneous Femoral Neck and Shafts Fractures – A Case Report
Simultaneous fractures of the femoral neck and shaft are not common injuries, though they cannot be considered rare. Herein, we report our experience with a patient with bilateral occurance of this injury. Up to the best of our knowkedge this is the first case reported in literature in which correct diagnosis was made initially. Both femurs were fixed using broad 4.5 mm dynamic compression pl...
متن کاملComparing Therapeutic Outcomes of Dynamic Hip Screw and Multiple Cannulated Screws as Internal Fixation in Femoral Neck Fractures
Background and purpose: Femoral neck fracture is associated with a high rate of side effects, especially in young people, who are usually affected by severe energy shocks. Results after injury depend on some factors, including displacement, fragility, bleeding rate, proper placement, and stable and strong fixation. The aim of this study was to compare dynamic hip screw (DHS) or multiple cannula...
